The Creative Mind is our link with the divine, and is essential to our
wholeness. Art is a healing tool because it opens up a dialogue between
the conscious level and the Infinite Unconscious. This
higher Mind is the deeper, truer reality.
It is said that creative people have a gift. That’s true in a sense – we
all have that gift. Some of us have had the good fortune to “stumble” upon
that link with Creative Mind, that link which exists in all of us. Can
creativity be taught? There is no need. No one teaches us, because all
learning comes from within. We all have the means to discover our own
Creative Selves; the expertise lies within and the tools are provided. Can
we be assisted in making this discovery? I believe so. I intend to spend
the remainder of my life helping others discover their own creative
potential.
When we re-unite with our Creative Selves as our own Creator intended, we
become co-creators. We achieve wholeness, or healing. This is our ultimate
purpose. The reunification of the relatively shallow conscious mind with
the Infinite Unconscious leads to another discovery – that we are all
connected at the unconscious level.
Creativity can assume an infinite variety of forms. One need not be an
artist or composer to exercise his/her innate creative abilities. What is
important is intent. If the intent is purely profit or the control of
others, it is a misuse of creative potential. The true power of the
Creative Mind is not experienced. One experiences only the illusion of
power. With true power we control no one; we uplift them.
“Our creative dreams and yearnings come from a divine
source. As we move toward our dreams, we move toward our divinity.”
–Julia Cameron, The Artist’s Way
